WorldSkills Lyon 2024: The last day of Competition ends on a high note at Eurexpo

14 September 2024

After four intense days, WorldSkills Lyon 2024 comes to a close. The last day of Competition was marked by the clapping and loud support to all of the 1,400 Competitors as each one of them was completing their Test Projects. Experts, visitors and family members of the young skills athletes experienced moments of celebration as activities came to an end at Eurexpo Lyon.

It has now been four days since WorldSkills Lyon 2024 started and all Competitors have strived to deliver their best performance on their Test Projects. This Saturday, concentration was at its peak as they finalized their projects in front of skills teams and visitors watching in real-time the results of many hours of effort.  As the activities came to an end, the support was louder than before in the various workshops. Large flags from the nearly 70 countries and regions participating were waved above the visitors while chants and traditional music from various countries could be heard on the different halls of Eurexpo Lyon.

This final day of Competition was also designated as Family Day, to recognize the important role of support systems in each Competitor’s path to success. Champions were surrounded by parents and friends, some of whom had traveled to Lyon from the other side of the world to support them during this pivotal moment in their skills journey. As the clock stopped, the Competitors were able to spend some time greeting their families during heartwarming moments that also highlight what makes a WorldSkills Competition so unique.

The Competitor’s years of training have paid off brilliantly. It is now time for them to wait for the results at tomorrow’s Closing Ceremony where all the medalists will be announced and celebrated.
