WorldSkills Lyon 2024: Eurexpo welcomes students for the second day of Competition

12 September 2024

For Day 2 at WorldSkills Lyon 2024, our Competitors’ focus intensified as they kept on working on their Test Projects in front of around 32,000 invested and curious visitors. Among them, tens of thousands of young students and school pupils joined us at Eurexpo Lyon to see Competitors in action and learn more about skills.

From this morning through the afternoon, our 1,400 Competitors kept their focus as they tackled their respective Test Projects. Just like yesterday, their savoir-faire and talents attracted a large number of visitors gathered in the halls of Eurexpo and in front of all the workshops. Guests from all over the world enthusiastically supported their compatriots, at times generating the energy and noise of big sports events. Whether it was in front of the Bricklaying, Water Technology or Landscape Gardening workshops, visitors were captivated as they watched the competitions in real time.

Today saw a remarkable turnout, with tens of thousands of students in attendance. Their enthusiasm was evident as they admired the Competitors, explored various skills at our dedicated stands and activities, and collected flags from WorldSkills Member countries and regions to take home as souvenirs. The Organizing Committee was thrilled to see these young attendees inspired and absorbed by skills, with some seeming to open up their horizons to potential future career possibilities.

In parallel of the Competition, the WorldSkills Conference 2024 continued for its second and last day with a packed agenda focusing on how skills development can address global challenges. Highlights included sessions on AI and the future of work, foundational skills for TVET, and a spotlight session of UNESCO’s global skills academy centered on the advancement of skills for the future.

As Day 2 concluded, the Competition hit its midpoint. Tomorrow, Competitors will continue their pursuit of the title of World Champion in their skill.
