WorldSkills General Assembly concluded last week in Dublin

WorldSkills General Assembly 2023 brought together several actors of the WorldSkills movement in Dublin, Ireland for a week-long series of meetings and events from 24 to 29 September 2023.  

WorldSkills General Assembly is held every two years between the WorldSkills Competitions. The 2023 edition ended on 29 September after a week of strategic meetings and talks under the theme “Together, We are WorldSkills.” The event brought together the WorldSkills community with the WorldSkills International board and secretariat, the WorldSkills Lyon 2024 Organizing Committee, over half of the WorldSkills Global Partners, the 2023 to 2024 Champions Trust and other actors of the movement.  

One of the priorities of this General Assembly was the planning of WorldSkills Lyon 2024, with a focus on the main objectives of the Competition. Several key issues were raised during meetings and discussions, such as the optimization and evolution of the WorldSkills Lyon 2024 Competition to make it a successful, efficient, and sustainable event.  

The General Assembly was also the opportunity to formally ratify the Central Asian country of Kyrgyzstan, which became the 86th Member of WorldSkills. Another significant moment of the week was the pre-launch of WorldSkills Africa, the regional platform encourages the development and highlights the power of skills on the African continent. During the event, the WorldSkills community chose Dubrovnik, Croatia as the next host city of the WorldSkills General Assembly 2025.
