WorldSkills Conference: transforming Vocational Training on a global stage
The WorldSkills Conference 2024, Europe’s largest vocational training and skills summit since 2019, will be held on 11 and 12 September alongside WorldSkills Lyon 2024. This major event will bring together government representatives, political decision-makers, business leaders, education stakeholders and young professionals from around the world. Under the theme “Moving TVET to the top of the global agenda”, the Conference will be an amazing opportunity to tackle major issues surrounding vocational training. Here are some of them.
Some of the topics that will be discussed during WorldSkills Conference 2024 include improving the quality and relevance of TVET programmes to meet changing industry demands, addressing the challenges of integrating digital technologies and artificial intelligence into training, and promoting gender equality, particularly the inclusion of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In addition, the conference will focus on the role of TVET in promoting sustainable green economies, supporting social justice, and managing the impacts of migration on workforce development.
Another key topic will be how best to support young professionals in their career development within a rapidly changing global landscape. The conference aims to showcase successful strategies and innovative practices from around the world that can be tailored to various local contexts. By bringing together diverse stakeholders from across the globe, the WorldSkills Conference aspires to create a collaborative environment where ideas and solutions can be shared and exchanged to advance the global TVET agenda, ensuring skills development and international cooperation to reach common goals.
