WorldSkills Conference 2024: what to expect

The WorldSkills Conference 2024 is set to take place on 11 and 12 September 2024, alongside WorldSkills Lyon 2024. This global event will gather some of the most important and influential people in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) including policy makers, Ministers representing skills and education, heads of industries, thought leaders from NGOs, experts in skill strategies, and many others. Here’s what to expect.

Held every year since 2007, the WorldSkills Conference gives different voices in government, business, education, and industry the opportunity to gather, connect, and discuss trends, innovations and ideas around skills and vocational training worldwide. This year, the WorldSkills Conference will focus on the theme: “Moving TVET to the top of the global agenda”, with a series of events and panel discussions held over two days.

Key sessions will include topics such as strategies for excellence in TVET, gender equity in skills, sustainability and green transition, the role of AI in education, and the importance of addressing the needs of fragile economies. Other topics like the inclusion of women in STEM will also be discussed. The Conference will also be a place for networking opportunities and insights from organizations like UNESCO and OECD, ending with a focus on setting global TVET priorities.
