The city of Lyon is preparing to welcome the world
With less than three weeks left before the 47th WorldSkills Competition, Lyon is ready to welcome visitors and the WorldSkills community coming from all over the globe. Known for its cultural heritage and innovative spirit, the city is set to become a global skills stage where 1,400 young professionals will showcase their expertise in front of hundreds of thousands of visitors.
As the final preparations for WorldSkills Lyon 2024 take place, the different venues set to host the Competition and Ceremonies are taking shape and being equipped to guarantee an event to remember. While the Competition will take place at Eurexpo Lyon, one of Europe’s top 15 exhibition venues and France’s leading exhibition venue outside of Paris, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies will take place at the LDLC Arena (OL Arena), Lyon’s largest event venue, and at the Groupama Stadium (OL Stadium), the country’s third largest stadium in terms of capacity and biggest stadium of the city.
A series of events organized by the Rhône Prefecture, the Metropole of Lyon, and the City of Lyon will also take place in the context of WorldSkills Lyon 2024, such as the display of our Sports & Skills exhibition on the gates of the Prefecture, and a giant ‘Skills Village’ in the city’s popular Place Bellecour (featured on the WorldSkills Lyon 2024 medals), where the public will have the opportunity to learn more about eights skills families through information stands, as well as a series of events and demonstrations.
Across Lyon and in the surroundings, the WorldSkills Lyon 2024 Organizing Committee has curated a wide selection of nearly 100 partner hotels to ensure every participant enjoys a quality welcome and appropriate accommodation. These hotels are ideally located in and around the city, guaranteeing Competitors, delegations and visitors a pleasant stay at the heart of the Competition.
Lyon is set to become the epicenter of global young talents as it prepares to host the 47th WorldSkills Competition. With world-class venues and a rich cultural backdrop, it is ready to offer a memorable experience for all. Without a doubt, WorldSkills Lyon 2024 will celebrate young talents, but it will also highlight Lyon’s role as a global hub of innovation and hospitality.
