Logistics at WorldSkills Lyon 2024: precise organization for a successful event
In the run-up to WorldSkills Lyon 2024, good transport and storage logistics are essential to ensure that the Competition runs smoothly. The main mission of the logistics department within the Organizing Committee is to ensure that all the equipment required for the various skills competitions arrives at Eurexpo on time, and is properly managed throughout the event.
The WorldSkills Lyon 2024 logistics team plays a crucial role in coordinating every aspect of material transport and storage. Each member contributes to a coherent logistics chain, essential to the success of the 47th WorldSkills Competition. As the event gets underway, the equipment required for each of the skills competitions is gradually arriving at Eurexpo Lyon, under the supervision of Anasse Es Sraidi, Logistics Manager. On site, the logistics team coordinates the receipt and management of goods and materials, including essential items such as the Competitors’ toolboxes.
A dedicated team is in charge of receiving and storing this essential equipment: forklift truck operators, who unload and transport the equipment to the various business areas, and warehouse operators, who help move the parcels when necessary. To make their job easier, truck managers welcome trucks and direct them to the appropriate halls for optimal unloading. The Eurexpo site offers 1,200 m² of storage space for equipment, with a warehouse section dedicated to the specific needs of the skills teams during the event. A 5,000 m² depot in a neighboring town is also available to ensure the smooth running of the event.
An event of this scale requires impeccable logistics, and we are lucky to be able to count on a dedicated team of experts, ensuring flawless organization for the success of WorldSkills Lyon 2024 and the comfort of all Competitors during their various trials.
