Meet the WorldSkills Champions Trust representatives for 2023 to 2024: Cloé Lemaréchal

Recently selected to represent the WorldSkills Champions Trust 2023 to 2024, Cloé Lemarechal competed for France at the WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition, in Fashion Technology. Cloé, who loves sports and travel, also won a medal in Fashion Technology at the Abilympics Competition 2023, and is the first Abilympics Competitor and Champions Trust representative.

Why did you apply to become a WorldSkills Champions Trust representative? How did it feel to be elected?

I did both the WorldSkills Competition and the Abylimbics. I applied to be a Champions Trust representative because I wanted to show that everything is possible. I also wanted to challenge myself and improve my English level: I couldn’t complete a trial during my WorldSkills Competition because I couldn’t understand something in English, which frustrated me. Being a Champions Trust Representative is a small revenge. I can show other competitors that the WorldSkills journey can go on after the Competition. I had to read the email that said I was elected five times to believe it!

How would you describe the WorldSkills movement in three words?

Challenges, Cultures and Dreams.

What is your advice to current Competitors and how do you wish to inspire them as a WorldSkills Champions Trust representative?

Bring out the gem that’s inside you. You will discover it throughout the adventure. For me, WorldSkills allows us to go and find that gem within ourselves.

What would you say to a young person hesitating to enter a skill-based education and training path?

If you are passionate about something that requires vocational training, take that route, don’t follow someone else’s destiny.

Do you have a favorite WorldSkills memory, an anecdote to share?

I have two favorite memories to share. The first was at the Helsinki Competition of the WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition, when I noticed my expert had sparkles in his eyes when he looked at me. At that moment, I knew he genuinely believed in me. The second memory was at the Abilympics Competition, when a part of the French team of the Special Edition surprised me by coming to support me with posters. It was a magical moment.
