Sustainability
Towards an improved and more responsible event model
Sustainability has become a major challenge and opportunity for companies, institutions, and organizations in the past few years.
WorldSkills Lyon 2024 places sustainability at the heart of the Competition’s identity and culture, aiming to inspire future competitions, the WorldSkills movement, and the Lyon region to adopt a sustainable and socially committed approach in all future events.
OUR OBJECTIVES
• Deliver the most environmentally responsible Competition and related events possible through concrete actions and commitments
• Be in line with local and territorial issues in terms of sustainability
• Lead the way for the organization of future competitions in terms of space utilization, ecological footprint, and social inclusion
• Leave a legacy for all future WorldSkills Competitions
To achieve these goals, we are working with different companies that guide us along the way:
- The Shift: a group of experts who specialize in providing solutions to help companies, events, and organizations evolve and navigate within a sustainable society that considers the limits of our planet, social justice, and economic constraints.
- Ipama: a company that helps us develop our responsible management system to obtain the ISO 20121 event sustainability certification, the leading standard certification for sustainable events and management systems.
